Ingleby Arncliffe and Ingleby Cross are separate villages that have merged over the years to become in essence, one village.
Ingleby Arncliffe is at the top of the hill and Ingleby Cross at the bottom. This part of the village used to be a cross roads for the A172, which long since moved and bypassed this part of the village.
The villages in parts are very old and are mentioned in the Domesday Book. They have some 16th Century buildings, some owned by the local estate and others privately owned that span all centuries.
The Parish also covers a lots of farms and farmsteads outside of the village proper, but still very much part of the civil parish.
We are located between the aforementioned A172 and the A19, giving great access to major employment centres, but also we are at the foot of the Cleveland Hills. The boundary for the North York Moors National Park runs along the course of the old A172 through Ingleby Cross.
We are also very fortunate to be on the route of the Coast to Coast Walk, which enables many businesses in the villages to thrive.
